The Hokkaido Rail Pass is an economical ticket especially for foreigners traveling to Hokkaido. We offer a “3-day ticket”, “5-day ticket”, and now a “Flexible 4-day ticket” that gives you the option of choosing 4 days that you want to travel within the valid period. Within this period you may board any JR train in Hokkaido freely. You may also reserve a seat on the Limited Express*. You can purchase this rail pass in your country before you depart, or after you arrive in Hokkaido. You may board the reserved and non-reserved seats on the Ltd. Exp., Exp., rapid and local trains.
For First Class Car (Green Car)
You may board the Green car on the Ltd. Exp., and reserved or non-reserved seats on the Ltd. Exp., Exp., rapid and local trains.

* Reserved seating= You can reserve a seat on a specific day and train you wish to board.
Non-reserved seating = Seats that cannot be reserved. You may sit in seats that are not occupied.
* If you wish to reserve a seat on the sleeper car, there is an extra charge.

How to purchase your tickets

There are the 2 following ways to purchase.
1Purchase after you arrive in Hokkaido.
2Purchase an exchange ticket at your local travel agency in your country before you depart.

The counters for purchasing and exchanging your tickets in Hokkaido are as follows.
The JR Information Desks located in New Chitose Airport and Sapporo Station, Abashiri Station or the JR Travel Centers (Twinkle Plaza ) located in Sapporo Station, Asahikawa Station, Hakodate Station, Kushiro Station, Obihiro Station and Abashiri Station.

*Please present your passport upon purchase.

This pass is available only to short term tourists with the purpose of sight-seeing.
